Validation

As you deploy commit servers and edge servers, you can focus your testing and validation efforts in the following areas.

Supported deployment configurations

• Hybrid mode: commit server also acting as a regular central server The one server that is innermost in a multi-server deployment. In the server specification form field for Services, the central server might be specified as “standard” or “commit-server”. If edge servers are part of the multi-server deployment, the central server must be a commit server. See also 'upstream server'..
• Read-only replicas attached to commit and edge servers.
• Proxy server attached to an edge server.

Backups

Exercise a complete backup plan on the commit server and edge servers. Note that journal rotations are not permitted directly on an edge server. Journal rotations can occur on edge servers as a consequence of occurring on the commit server. To learn more, see Backup and recovery.

Recovery

If one or more database tables are corrupt on the edge server, and no checkpoint is available to recover those database tables, see Edge server metadata recovery and Ensure system integrity after a restoration.
