Customize Helix Core Server: job specifications

This chapter explains how an adminstrator of Helix Core Server can modify the Helix Core Server job template with the p4 jobspec command. The Helix Core Server jobs feature enables users to link changelists to enhancement requests, problem reports, and other user-defined tasks. The default jobs template has five fields for tracking jobs. These fields are sufficient for small-scale operations. However, if the projects managed by Helix Core Server are large, the information stored in these fields might be insufficient.

Improper modifications to the Helix Core Server job template can lead to corruption of your server’s database. To learn more, see Caveats, warnings, and recommendations.

The Helix Core P4DTG (Helix Defect Tracking Gateway) provides a way to integrate third-party defect tracking tools with Helix Core Server. To learn more, see Third-party defect tracking systems.

Non-administrators use the p4 job command, which is explained in the Helix Core Command-Line (P4) Documentation.
