Settings that persist between sessions

To set your preferences for application font, text format, file format (including character encoding, such as Unicode), application language, icon scaling, application color scheme (Light or Dark), and comparison method, go to Edit > Preferences (Windows) or P4Merge > Preferences (macOS).

Three toolbar buttons allow you to:

• Show tabs and spaces.

• Show Inline Diffs.

• Show Syntax Highlights.

Settings for the current session only

Except for the three toolbar buttons mentioned above, the selections you make in the P4Merge window, including on the View menu, are only in effect for the current session.

For example, to select the character set for the current session, go to File > Character Encoding.
