Step 2: Download and install Helix Core Server on Windows | Admin
Complete the following steps to download and install Helix Core Server on Windows.
As a best practice, install Helix Core Server on one computer and Helix Core clients on another networked computer. Installing the server on a separate computer ensures that everyone in your organization can access the files as needed.
To install Helix Core Server on Linux, see Download and install Helix Core Server on Linux.

Go to the Helix Core Server (P4D) download page.

Select Windows for Family and select the appropriate Platform.

Click Download.

Complete the form and click Download.

Click Download again.

Browse to locate the downloaded file and open it to start the installer.

On the Select Applications screen, make sure Helix Server (P4D) and Helix Command Line (P4) are selected.

Click Next.

On the Server Configuration screen, enter values for:

Server Root: Local file path to a directory on the computer you are installing Helix Core Server on, where versioned files and metadata are stored.

Server Address: IP address or URL specifying the host and port the Helix Core Server listens on. For example,
192.168.0.1:1666
orp4d-1.example.com:1666

Note the Server Address for later steps and then click Next.

On the Client Configuration screen, enter the Server address you used in the previous step and a User Name. This user will have super user permissions to perform administrative tasks on Helix Core Server.
TipServer must include a server name or IP address and port. For example,
192.168.0.1:1666

Note the User Name for later steps and click Next.

On the Ready to Install screen, click Install.

If prompted to allow the installer to make changes, click Yes.

When installation is complete, in the Finished installing dialog box, click Exit.
What’s next
Next, download and install Helix Core Visual Client (P4V), which allows you to work with versioned files. Installing P4V also installs the Helix Core Visual Admin Client (P4Admin) by default. You will use these tools to configure security and add users in later steps. You will also install other tools that you might use when working with Helix Core.
