Renaming a workspace

By default, users can rename workspaces that they created, including the current workspace.

To rename a workspace:

1. Make sure you are connected to P4 Server.

2. In the Visual Studio menu bar, select View > Workspaces.
   

3. In the Workspaces tool window, click the Workspaces tab.

4. Select a workspace, and on the context menu, click Rename Workspace.

5. In the Rename Workspace dialog, type the new name you want, and click the Rename Workspace button.
   

Limitations:

• The P4VS plugin must be at version 2024.1 or later.

• The workspace is renamed for pending changelists but not for submitted changelists.

• The P4 administrator can prevent users from renaming their workspaces by using the run.renameclient.allow configurable.
