Integrate P4 Code Review with Slack to deliver review activity directly to your team’s channels and direct messages. Slack notifications help teams stay informed about code reviews, comments, and state changes without leaving their messaging workflow.

Slack integration supports flexible configuration for single or multiple workspaces, configurable notification routing, and rich message content.

How Slack notifications work

When review activity occurs, P4 Code Review evaluates the configured Slack workspaces and sends notifications based on each workspace's settings.

Notifications can be delivered to:

  • Slack channels.

  • Direct messages (DMs).

You can configure notification behaviour, @mention handling, message content, and channel routing to meet your team's requirements.

The Slack integration provides the following capabilities:

Real-time review notifications

Receive notifications in Slack when:

  • Reviews are created.

  • Changes are committed.

  • Comments are added, edited, or replied to.

  • Review state changes (for example, approved or needs revision).

Notifications help teams stay informed about review activity without constantly monitoring P4 Code Review.

Flexible notification routing

Control how notifications are delivered:

  • Send notifications to one or more Slack channels.

  • Route notifications based on project-to-channel mappings.

  • Send direct messages to users when configured.

  • Use fallback notification behaviour to ensure important updates are not missed.

Configurable @mentions

Configure automatic @mentions in the initial review notification for key participants, such as:

  • Review authors.

  • Branch default reviewers.

  • Branch moderators.

Users can also add @mentions directly in review descriptions, comments, and replies.

Slack message content and previews

Slack notifications include structured message content, such as:

  • Review details and status information.

  • Comment content.

  • File information.

  • Inline image previews for supported image attachments.

Image previews allow users to view screenshots and other images directly in Slack without opening P4 Code Review.

Multi-workspace support

Configure one or more Slack workspaces within a single P4 Code Review instance.

Each workspace can maintain its own:

  • Slack bot token.

  • Project-to-channel mappings.

  • Notification settings.

  • Message configuration.

This allows organizations to route notifications to different teams, departments, or regions while managing all integrations from a single P4 Code Review instance.
