Administration
Administrative and other high-level users can perform a variety of tasks to configure and manage Surround SCM for your team.
Setup
Before users can access files under source control, an administrator must perform some initial setup in Surround SCM. See Setting up Surround SCM
Configuration
You can configure Surround SCM to support your team's process and terminology, including configuring:
- Custom fields to capture specific data about files.
- Triggers to automate actions, such as sending email notifications, enforcing workflow rules, and running external applications.
- Workflows to help manage the process that files follow during their lifecycle.
- Code review settings to let users add files to code reviews when adding and checking in files.
- Shadow folders to provide a read-only copy of the current files in a repository.
- Helix ALM integration to let users attach source files to Helix ALM items from Surround SCM.
Maintenance
Surround SCM maintenance is simple. You can:
- Manage branches and mainline branches.
- Maintain Surround SCM databases.
- Use the server log to troubleshoot any issues.
