Selecting filters and options

In many areas of ALM, you select filters to specify items to view, such as in item lists, and to include, such as when adding reports. The available filter options and actions are the same throughout all areas of ALM.

Select a filter

To use a filter, select it in the Filter field.

Add or remove the selected filter as a favorite

In a Filter field, you can add a filter as a favorite to find it more easily or remove it from your favorites.

  • To add a filter as a favorite, click the star next to the filter in the list. The star changes to yellow.
  • To remove a filter from your favorites, click the star next to the filter in the list. The star changes to gray.

Edit or delete a filter

In a Filter field, you can edit or delete a filter if you have permission.

  • To edit a filter, click Edit the filter next to the filter. To learn more, see Editing filters.
  • To delete a filter, click Delete the filter next to the filter. To learn more, see Deleting filters.

In a Filter field, you can perform the following actions.

Add a filter

In the Filter field, select Add Filter.

Change display options

When selecting a filter, you may want to reduce the number of filters in the list to find the one you need. You can narrow the list based on access type, favorites, or tags.

1. In the Filter field, select Find Filter.

2. In the Filter Menu Display Options dialog box, select any of the following options:

  • Access: Select the access set on filters to display in the list. Click Select All to include filters with all access types.
  • Show only favorites: Select to only display filters in the list that you added as favorites.
  • Show only selected tags: Select to only display filters in the list with the selected tags set on them. Select the tags to include.

3. Click Save.

The Filters list is updated to contain only filters that match the options you set

Find a filter

1. In the Filter field, select Display Options.

2. In the Find Filter dialog box, to narrow the list of filters, select any options in the Display Options pane.

  • Access: Select the access set on filters to display in the list.
  • Show only favorites: Select to only display filters in the list that you added as favorites.
  • Show only selected tags: Select to only display filters in the list with the selected tags set on them. Select the tags to include.

3. Select the filter to use.

4. Click OK.

The filter is selected.
