Renaming field labels
You can rename field labels to match your team’s terminology. Keep the following in mind:
- Each label has a built-in field code. Field codes do not change if you rename labels. For example, if you rename Disposition (%DISP%) to Substatus, you still use %DISP% for the Substatus field code. See Field codes.
- Columns in the project database are not renamed.
1. Click Administration.
The Admin Home page opens.
2. Click Field Labels.
The Field Labels page opens.
3. Select an Item type.
4. Click the label to change in the Field Label column. You can also mouse over a row and click to edit a label.
5. Enter the new value. You can enter up to 32 characters.
6. Click to save the changes.
The project is updated with the new label. Users will see any label changes the next time they log in to Helix ALM.
You can restore all original field labels for the selected item type. Any customized labels are overwritten with the value in the Default Value column. Click Restore Default Values. You are prompted to confirm the change. Click Restore.
