Troubleshooting Microsoft Word export image issues
If images in an exported Word document are not displayed correctly or at the resolution you expect, the administrator can change settings for exported images in the Helix ALM Registry Utility. There are settings for images in multi-line fields, image files attached to items, and image files attached to test case and manual test run steps. Keep in mind that any changes made in the registry utility affect all projects on the Helix ALM Server the administrator connects to when making the change. See the registry utility help for information.
Image file types
- If the option to compress images is selected in the registry utility, all image files are converted to .jpeg files in the exported document, regardless of the file type in Helix ALM.
- If the option to use full resolution is selected in the registry utility, PNG files are not automatically scaled in the exported document. JPG files only automatically scale correctly if they are 96 DPI.
Images in tables
If images in tables are not displayed correctly in a Word document, you may need to make changes to the table properties in the template you are using. See Editing Microsoft Word export templates.
- Make sure that Automatically resize to fit contents is cleared in the table options.
- When selecting AutoFit table options, use AutoFit to Window if you want the exported table to look the same as it does in Helix ALM. You can also use Fixed Column Width. You may need to experiment with the options for best results. Do not use AutoFit to Contents.
