Changing test variant values for multiple test cases

If test variants change in a project, you can update multiple test cases at the same time to ensure the correct variant values are used when generating manual test runs. For example, if an application no longer supports a database type, you can remove it from the list of included variant values so manual test runs are no longer generated for it.

1. Select the test cases to change and choose Activities > Bulk Test Case Changes.

The Bulk Test Case Changes dialog box opens.

2. Click the Variants tab.

3. Click Add. Make sure to work in the correct area for included or excluded variants so the appropriate values are available when generating manual test runs.

The Change Test Variant Values dialog box opens.

4. Select an Action.

  • Add test variant values adds values to the variant in the test cases.
  • Remove test variant values removes values from the variant in the test cases.
  • Set test variant values sets the values for the variant in the test cases. Select this option to add and remove values at the same time.

5. Select a Variant and the Values to change.

Note:  If you are using the Set test variant values action and do not select any values to set, the variant is removed from the test cases.

6. Click OK to add the action.

7. Repeat steps 3-6 to add any additional actions.

8. Review the actions you added.

  • To edit an action, select it and click Edit. Make any changes and click OK.
  • To delete an action, select it and click Delete. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

9. Click OK.

You are prompted to confirm the changes.

10. Click Yes.

The test cases are updated.
