Deleting custom fields

You can delete custom fields that are no longer needed. When a field is deleted, it is removed from all items in the project. All data associated with the field is also deleted.

1.Make sure that all other users are logged out of the project. See Logging out users.

2. Lock the project. See Locking and unlocking projects.

3. Close all Edit or View item dialog boxes you have open.

4. Choose Tools > Administration > Custom Fields.

The Setup Custom Fields dialog box opens.

5. Select an Item type. The fields displayed depend on the selected type.

6. Select the custom field and click Delete.

7. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

If you are deleting a custom pop-up menu field that is the only field that uses the corresponding value list, you are also prompted to delete the list. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

The custom field is removed from the list.

8. Click OK to save the changes.

The custom field and associated data are deleted.
