Integrating with third-party applications
Helix ALM can be integrated with many third-party integrated development environments (IDEs), source control applications, collaboration applications, and other applications. You can easily access Helix ALM while working in your environment.
Note: Make sure to log out and disconnect from Helix ALM in integrated third-party applications when you finish working with a project. This is important if your team uses floating licenses because you could be using multiple licenses at one time and preventing other users from logging in.
The following resources can help you integrate Helix ALM with third-party applications.
- Third-Party Integrations lists the supported integrations and versions.
- The Integrations knowledgebase category provides integration installation instructions, setup information, and troubleshooting help.
IDEs
Helix ALM integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio to allow users to easily add and view Helix ALM items from the development environment without switching applications. See Visual Studio Integration.
Source control applications
Helix ALM integrates with Surround SCM, Helix Versioning Engine, and other source control applications for a complete change management solution that tracks changes in source files related to Helix ALM items. See Integrating with source control applications.
Automated testing tools
Helix ALM integrates with automated testing tools when using the Helix ALM script agent. See Managing automated tests.
Collaboration tools
Helix ALM integrates with Slack to help team members collaborate about Helix ALM items. When you share a link to a Helix ALM item in a Slack channel, information about that item expands (or unfurls). Replies to the message in a thread are added to the Helix ALM item as Comment workflow events or another event configured for the integration. You can view events in the item to see the entire conversation. See Slack Integration.
Developers can use Slack incoming webhooks and Helix ALM triggers to push information from Helix ALM to Slack. See Using Slack Incoming Webhooks and Helix ALM Triggers.
Other applications
If you use Microsoft Excel, you can open items in Excel to provide information to stakeholders who do not have Helix ALM access. See Opening items in Microsoft Excel.
If you use Microsoft Outlook, you can use the Helix ALM Outlook add-in to add emails as new issues, requirements, requirement documents, or test cases or as tracked email to existing Helix ALM items. See Microsoft Outlook Integration.
