Detaching source files and changelists from items

Note:  Source file actions and options depend on the source control application you are using. The following information applies to Surround SCM and Helix Versioning Engine. If you use a different application, refer to its documentation for information.

If a source file or changelist no longer needs to be associated with a Helix ALM item, you can detach it. The source file or changelist is removed from the item and the association between the item and file or changelist in the source control application is removed.

1. Click the Source Files tab when you are editing an item. The Source Files tab is on the Files tab in requirements, documents, test cases, and test runs.

2. Select the file or changelist and click Detach.

You are prompted to confirm to detaching the file.

3. Click Yes.

The file or changelist is detached.
