Setting client project options

Client options control how many times users with different licenses can log in to Helix ALM clients and the number of characters displayed in the Overview tab.

1. Choose Tools > Administration > Project Options.

The Project Options dialog box opens.

2. Select the Clients category.

3. Select any Multiple Logins options to restrict the number of times floating license users can simultaneously log in to the project based on the license and client type.

Keep the following in mind:

  • If the maximum login for a license is 1 and users attempt to log in with the license a second time, they are prompted to log out of the first session. An error is returned if the user is editing an item or the client is performing an action that displays a status or progress dialog box in the first session.
  • If multiple logins are enabled, users must log out of Helix ALM Web before closing the browser. If they do not log out, the session remains active and the floating licenses are not available until the session times out or an administrative user logs them out.
  • You can change the inactivity limit used to time out sessions and release floating licenses in the Helix ALM Server Admin Utility. See the server admin utility help for information.
  • Users can run multiple instances of the desktop client to log in multiple times from the same computer. See Setting general local options.

4. Select any Overview Tab options.

  • Limit description to limits the description displayed on the Overview tab to the specified number of characters.
  • Limit email displays to limits the email displayed on the Overview tab to the specified number of characters.

5. Click OK to save the changes.
