Adding attachments to test case steps

You can add attachments to test case steps and expected results to provide additional information for users performing test runs. Attachments are copied to generated test runs.

1. Click the Steps tab when you are adding or editing a test case.

2. If you are entering steps in grid view, select the step or expected result to add the attachment to.

If you are entering steps in text view, select the line to add the attachment to.

3. Click the Add Attachment button and select an option.

  • New file attachment attaches a file that is not yet attached to the test case. The Attach Files dialog box opens. Select the file to attach and click Open.
  • Existing file attachment attaches an existing file from the test case Files tab. The Select Attachments dialog box opens. Select the attachment and click OK.
  • New source control attachment attaches a source file. See Attaching source files to items.

The attachment is added to the Attachments column in grid view or the selected line in text view, and the test case Files tab.

4. Click the Capture Screen button to capture and attach a screenshot. See Capturing screenshots.

To paste an image from the clipboard, right-click and choose Paste from Clipboard.

5. Double-click an attachment to view it.

6. Select an attachment and click Delete Attachment to delete it.
