Creating Helix ALM test cases
You can create a Helix ALM test case that adds the recorded results as steps directly from Defect Scribe. Keep in mind that Helix ALM may be customized for your team and use different terminology for test cases.
1. Click Create Test Case when viewing results in the Results dialog box.
Note: You must log in to the Test case management area when connecting to Helix ALM. If you did not log in to test case management, click Change Helix ALM Connection, expand Log in to on the Helix ALM Project Selection dialog box, and select Test case management.
The Add Test Case dialog box opens and the recorded steps are displayed. A screenshot is attached to each step.
2. Enter the general test case information in the top part of the dialog box. The fields depend on the information your team requires.
- Summary briefly describes the test. The summary from the Defect Scribe results is automatically entered.
- Type specifies the test type, such as Functional or Regression.
- Automated test indicates the test will be performed using an automated script.
3. Provide additional information on the following tabs.
Tab | Use to: |
---|---|
Detail | Enter the estimated time to perform the test, a test description, scope, conditions that must be met before performing the test, and overall expected test results. |
Steps | Review the steps added by Defect Scribe and enter the expected results. You can modify the steps before saving the test case. |
Variants | Select the test variants to include or exclude when test runs are generated for the test case. Test variants are attributes of the tested application used to generate test runs. A test run is created for each unique combination of variant values selected when generating test runs. |
Files | Attach scripts or other files to the test case. |
4. Provide any additional information on the other tabs. See the Helix ALM help for information.
5. Click Add.
The test case is saved and added to the project.
