Connecting to Helix ALM

Defect Scribe requires a valid Helix ALM license. When you start Defect Scribe, you are prompted to establish a Helix ALM connection.

As you work with results, you can use the existing Helix ALM connection or change connections to add issues or test cases to a different project.

1. The Helix ALM Login dialog box opens when you start Defect Scribe.

To connect to a different project after Defect Scribe is started, choose Tools > Change Helix ALM Connection or click Change Helix ALM Connection on the Results dialog box.

2. Select the Server to connect to. See the Helix ALM help if you need to add a server.

3. Enter your Username and Password.

If available, you can select Use single sign-on to log in using the workstation credentials or Use external authentication to log in with your authentication system credentials. Ask your Helix ALM administrator for help.

4. Select Always log in with this username and password to automatically log in using the credentials you entered every time Defect Scribe starts.

5. Click Connect.

The Helix ALM Project Selection dialog box opens.

6. Select the Project to work in.

7. Optionally expand Log in to and select the areas to log in to.

You are logged in to the selected areas each time you connect to Helix ALM from Defect Scribe. All areas you have access to are selected by default. If your team uses floating licenses, you may want to reconfigure the connection before performing Helix ALM actions to only log in to the areas you will use for the current session.

8. Select Always log in to this project to automatically log in to the selected project every time Defect Scribe starts.

This option is only available if Always log in with this username and password is selected.

9. Click OK.

You are logged in to the selected project.
