Installing and configuring the Helix Plan Slack integration

Before team members can use the Slack integration, an administrator must install and configure the required components.

Requirements

The following components are required to use the Slack integration.

  • Helix Plan 2024.1 or later
  • Helix Plan SDK user for the integration — The integration requires a user to log in to Helix Plan. Add a dedicated SDK user for the integration.
  • Helix Plan Slack Bot — The bot is an application connects to Slack and performs actions. When you configure the integration, the bot is configured for you and then you download and run it. The bot must be running for the integration to work.

Installation and configuration

To encrypt all data stored on the Helix Plan Server, use an encrypted disk. If you do not use an encrypted disk, some data related to Helix Plan on the server will remain unencrypted. Only the user running the server should have access to the database, installation, and backup folders.

1. Add an SDK user in Helix Plan for the integration.

2. Add the Helix Plan Slack application to your workspace.

3. Start the Slack integration.

4. Invite the bot to Slack channels.

The Helix Plan Web base URL must be configured to be able to open items using URLs in Helix Plan. See the Helix Plan user documentation for information. the Slack integration must be restarted after this is configured.
