Watching issues to be notified about changes

You can watch issues to stay informed about changes. If you are watching an item that changes, you will receive an email about the changes. For example, you may want to watch an issue that impacts a task you are working on.

Before users can watch issues, an administrator needs to make sure the required email and notification options are configured. See Requirements for watching issues.

Tip:  If you want to be notified about issues that change based on specific criteria, you may want to configure user notifications instead. For example, a user notification is a good way to stay informed when issues are fixed. See Adding user notification rules.

1.In the Edit or View Issue dialog box, click Watch.

The button changes to Watching. You will receive email whenever the issue changes.

2. To stop watching the issue and receiving change notification emails, click Watching.

The button changes to Watch.

Note:   Depending on your security permissions, the number of users watching the issue is displayed next to the Watch or Watching button. Click the number to manage the list of watchers. See Managing users watching issues.

Requirements for watching issues

Email templates to use for notifications sent about watched items are set in the Notification project options. See Setting notification project options.
